Project Objectives:
To strengthen target communities to develop mechanisms that encourages girls to attend and stay in school.
To strengthen schools to ensure girls stay in school and learn.
To improve school infrastructure through increased resource mobilization.
To advocate for full implementation of Ministry of Education Science and Technology pro-girl policy.
To motivate and inspire girls to stay in school through mentorship.
Under the project theme Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) the project aims to support interventions for highly marginalised, adolescent girls who are out of school (either because they have never attended school or have dropped out without gaining a basic education) In Kenya. The GEC Project aims at reaching 10, 050 marginalized girls able to complete full cycle of education and demonstrate learning.
SOS CV Kenya, jointly with I Choose Life – Africa (ICL) (as Lead Organization), Kenya Red Cross, and Mothers & Daughters implement the UK-AID/DfiD funded Girl Education Challenge (GEC) program in Meru, Laikipia and Mombasa Counties, a project that supports close to 3000 girls to go back to schools, ensuring their retention in school and transition to the next level of school there by enhancing their learning.
