JOHN GARANG HUMANITARIAN GROUP FOUNDATION KENYA provides children's education, health, spiritual and psychosocial needs up to the age of 23 years.At this age the child/youth has at least received a certification from a college of a university and is able to secure a job and stand on their own. At this point the children now young adults are integrated back into the community through a gradual disengagement process.
JOHN GARANG HUMANITARIAN GROUP FOUNDATION KENYA we strengthen care and give career advice from an early age in order to enable each young person to have a better chance of succeeding in life. We focus on coaching for formal education and career development and offer parents skills training in these areas in order to increase young people’s employability and entrepreneurial skills.We enable young people to shape their careers so that they respond to their situations and prepare for independent living.
The development of youth is an important part of growth and as the youth prepare to be released in the society the youth empowerment programme takes steps to ensure that they have every resource available to be a fully independent person. This is done through working on all stages if development to prepare them to be self-reliant, focusing on coaching to increase employability and entrepreneur skills, strongly supporting youth to enter the job market, training coworkers on how to prepare young people and parents to succeed in life and enabling young people to participate in shaping care practices .
Youth empowerment career initiatives ensure that the youth are innovative and consciously equipped with the right skills for various marketable career paths. Career initiatives for the youth that include, mentorship, assessment testing and counselling, Individual learning plans, job search assistance, skills development, apprenticeship and internships.
The youth empowerment also focuses on education programmes that involve partnership with education centres, youth based curriculum, youth forums and seminars, TVET institutions, The use of the Technical Training Institute in Kakamega to train youth on technical skills that are helpful in curving the youth careers through the courses offered.
